I initially thought that Tonga would be cheap in comparison to NZ but was in for a surprise. Basic semi-decent accommodation for a couple turned out to be around NZ$ 150 and food was not cheap either. That said, it turned out to be a lovely destination and probably will think of going back at some stage to visit some of the other islands out of Nukuʻalofa to do some whale watching.

We did do a couple of day trips to neighboring Fafa island and another one whose name escapes me now. Great places to just chill and lie back on the beach. Quite relaxing.

For those about to visit, a few of the decent places to eat are Friend's Cafe, Cafe Reef, Two Sisters, and Escape.

Very laid back kind of place where you'll meet really friendly people, who always greet you with a smile on their face.

If you want to get away from the city lights, Tonga could be a destination to think of.]]>
