Air France is allowing us to fly from Chile to Madrid, via Paris, with our small Yorkshire terrier as hand luggage.

All we had to do was make sure the box and the dog weighed no more than 5 kilos. Also there is a small fee, approx $150, and we had to give them advanced notice.

A very handy service indeed for a family travelling with a pet. Our dog would not suvive the journey if it was put in the hold with the luggage.
