In Maharashtra (India) near Aurangabad City , Ajanta & Ellora caves are good places for leisurely exploration since good accommodation is available .You can roam around in the 30 odd caves from dawn to dusk & spend your two days in the excellent Hotel Kailasa ,there .Several places around Ajanta & Ellora are worth seeing too. There are sculptures at Ajanta as well as Ellora ,but if you are interested in Paintings then Ellora will be better suited .Do not miss going to the largest monolithic temple in the world - The Kailasa Temple , which is the only place where we have to pay to get into the caves ,the remaining caves are free .
