I will be travelling to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos for 5 weeks and staying in 3* hotels that offer internet access in the room. Is it worth taking a laptop with us on the trip to stay connected with friends at home? Will it be safe to leave it in the hotel rooms and the baggage check areas if I place the laptop in a suitcase? My other alternative is to use internet cafes and not burden myself at all with a laptop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated since we will be leaving in a few days. Thank you
I would check with the hotels beforehand to see if they have some place to store valuables when you are out sightseeing. I guess it would be risky no matter which country you were going to.
I would say it is risky to bring a laptop to any place you don't know about unless you have family there who can tel you what to do and what not to do. If You have an old Laptop you don't really need you can bring that there after all all your doing is emailing, msn, instant messaging etc etc.
I think as far as I am concerned,laptop is a must take.I personally am hooked to it.Don't worry about it being lost,if you are careful.I think you are going to miss it, if you don't carry it along.
Don't you have a bag for it just keep it in a bag and when you get there have the bag on you at all times. Also isn't there a way to track where you laptop is by satellite and internet. I think there are ways now.
I would recommend keeping it with you. It's a great way to keep in touch with the rest of the world.
As forum member Nintendo said, put it in a bag, a bookbag. That way you can carry it easily on your back, and if it is a relatively new laptop, it should be lite enough not to notice.
I can't imagine traveling anywhere without my laptop. I put it in my backpack with a change of clothing when I'm flying!
The places that you have mentioned are a bit risky and if you are on a holiday then a laptop doesn't make any snese to me.

Yeah, you should take your laptop. Just make sure to lock it up in a secure place. ie your suitcase. Laptop is essential to everyday life.
